2 killed, 3 wounded in shooting at Far South Side park: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two people were killed and three others were wounded after a Father’s Day gathering in Roseland.

Chicago police said a group of people were together for a family party at Smith Park, at 99th and Princeton, shortly before 8 p.m. when suspects in a gray Honda sedan began shooting at them. Five men were hit by gunfire.

A 37-year-old man, shot in the head, was pronounced dead at the scene. A 33-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his neck. He later died at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.

A 27-year-old man remains in critical condition at the University of Chicago Hospital, with gunshot wounds to the buttocks and left shoulder. A 25-year-old man took a bullet to the torso and is described in fair condition at Christ Hospital. A 19-year-old male victim too was transported to Christ in fair condition, suffering gunshot wounds to both legs.

No one is in custody. Area Two Detectives are investigating.
