CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police are investigating the deaths of three people Saturday night in an apparent drag racing incident in West Pullman.

Police said officers responding to a call about drag racing near 100th and Halsted Streets saw a car hit a pole and then a wall before it burst into flames.

It was just before 11 p.m., and Chicago firefighters extinguished the fire. The three individuals found inside the car were declared dead at the scene.

Police and fire officials did not release details about anyone else involved in the drag race.

The Cook County medical examiner has scheduled autopsies.
