JOLIET (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Joliet police have a person of interest in a shooting that left a man dead Monday afternoon.
Police responded to a shooting at a home on the 700 block of Fairlane Drive at about 4 p.m. They found that a 50-year-old man had been shot in an open attached garage. He was alive but later died at a hospital.
Police swarmed the area. Neighbors were told to stay inside.
The man’s family members were escorted out of the house. The shooter was not there when police arrived.
Police later said it was believed to be a domestic incident and that a person of interest was in custody, and there was no danger to the public.
This is the second homicide in Joliet this year.
The first, also a domestic incident, occurred in January. 24-year-old Maya Smith murder, allegedly committed by an ex-boyfriend, occurred in her car in front of her 2-year-old daughter. She had been shot eight times, including five times in the face.
