CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police issued a community alert following a string of armed robberies believed to have been committed by the same crew in just over one hour Friday on the West Side.

The incidents occurred in the Ogden and Harrison Districts between about 6:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. Two took place within about a minute.

Officials said the robberies happened on: the 2300 block of South Hamlin Avenue, the 2600 block of South Keeler Avenue, the 2600 block of South Tripp Street, the 4200 block of West 27th Street, the 600 block of North Hamlin Avenue and the 3700 block of West Ohio Street.

In each case, police said a distinctive Kia Seltos was used.

It had red and gray stickers with the letters “CK” on the driver’s and passenger side doors. Officials said it also had black, American flag decals near the rear tires.

The Kia had been stolen.

Police say between one and four suspects, all wearing black clothing and masks, got out of the Kia and robbed people on the street at gunpoint.
