2 sisters and their sons, ages 6 and 17, killed in Rolling Meadows crash

ROLLING MEADOWS (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Four people were killed, including two children, in a crash Saturday night on Illinois Route 53 in suburban Rolling Meadows.

Family members of the victims spoke to CBS 2, who confirmed all four victims were related.

According to CBS 2, the victims were two sisters and their children. They were identified as Stacie Harris, 45, of West Rogers Park; Herlanda Harris, 47, of Hermosa; Jeremy Johnson, 17, of Schaumburg; and Jamarrion, 6, of Chicago.

Both mothers were remembered for her going out of her way to help others.

“For all four of our loved ones to be gone tragically in one act, it’s sickening,” said Deandrea Dixon, sister of the two women killed.

“My sister Stacy, she always had a smile on her face – always. My sister Tracy, always there for you no matter what.”

The family told CBS 2 the sisters drove out to Rolling Meadows with Jamarrion on Saturday night to help Jeremy, Stacy’s son, whose car had stalled on the side of Illinois Route 53 near the Kirchoff Road exit.

When they arrived around 11:30 p.m., Jeremy entered their blue Ford Fiesta and a black 2018 Jeep, driving on Route 53, plowed into their vehicle, which was stopped on the right shoulder at Kirchoff Road.

“For you to hit them from the back as hard as you did and ejected one of my sisters out of the car – out her seatbelt – you had to be going pretty fast,” Dixon said.

According to Illinois State Police, the impact of the crash caused both cars to veer across all lanes before coming to a stop on the left shoulder.

All four family members in the blue Ford Fiesta were killed.

The 32-year-old man from Bellwood driving the Jeep was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, state police said.

He was not yet facing charges as of Sunday night.

Illinois State Police continue to investigate.

According to CBS 2, the victims’ family, who have relatives spread throughout Chicago and Schaumburg, are now planning four funerals.
