(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — As police continue looking for whoever shot and killed a 4-year-old Alabama boy on Chicago's South Side last weekend, his parents are asking the public for help.

Angela Gregg brought her son, Mychal Moultry, to Chicago to visit his father.

Police said the child was getting his hair braided in an apartment on Ellis Avenue near 65th Street when bullets flew through a window and two of them hit the child's head.

Gregg on Thursday appealed for anyone who knows anything to come forward.

“I’m scared, too, but at the same time I’m still out here, I’m still fighting. I’m still talking to the community, I’m still talking to everybody. I’m talking to the world about my son. And I need you all to do the same thing,” she said.

Community activist Andrew Holmes said a reward of at least $9,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever killed the child.
