CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A big rent dispute between Amtrak and Metra has been settled over the use of Union Station.

Amtrak owns Union Station and Metra pays rent there.

Now the federal Surface Transportation Board has decided Metra will have to pay $1 million more a year in rent, bringing the total to more than $10.5 million annually.

There are still some other issues to be sorted out but Amtrak and Metra have agreed that their deal will go for another eight years with an option for a 10-year extension.
