CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Authorities have reportedly selected another location in Chicago to house migrants, and the local City Council representative said she's not happy about it.

Criticism of the state's pending plans to house migrants in the vacant K-Mart at 71st and Pulaski came from 23rd Ward Alderperson Silvana Tabares.

In a statement to WBBM, Tabares focused her concern on both the safety of the local community and the safety of the people to be housed in the building.

Tabares said she wants a plan that ensures the safety of the community and it's residents before the process proceeds any further.

The alderwoman said she's already spoken with local state officials and has urged them to engage the local community before migrants are moved into the K-Mart.
