(WBBM Newsradio) -- Not everyone is looking forward to returning to more normal lives as COVID-19 vaccinations increase and restrictions ease.

Some are anxious or afraid.

Dr. Suzanne Degges White, chair of counseling at Northern Illinois University's College of Education, said one way to overcome the fear and anxiety is to develop a plan to return to normal activities gradually.

This can be done with the support of friends, family or counselors if needed, she said.

It’s a bad idea for employers, friends or family to put pressure on people to return to normal activities, Degges White said, because that might increase the anxiety and make it harder to make the transition.
