(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The owners of Arlington Park are auctioning off lots of memorabilia from the closed horse racing track.
Arlington's president, Tony Petrillo, said many of the items being sold during the online auctions from now through the end of the year are unique to the track and its history.
He said he thinks the apron benches that were placed on the racetrack’s tiered stairway will be popular among buyers.
“I think those are going to command a high price,” he said.
Dinnerware used in suites also could be collectible, Petrillo said.
The owners of Arlington are hoping the auctions will help them liquidate many of their assets before the nearly $200 million sale of the facility to the Chicago Bears is closed.
