AURORA, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Aurora aquatic facilities will be open this summer, as the Fox Valley Park District continues to hire more lifeguards.

Last year, the district was unable to open the main facilities due to difficulties hiring enough lifeguards.

However, Fox Valley Park District Executive Director Jim Pilmer tells the
Aurora Beacon News that this year "all three will be open without question."

He said park officials started hiring lifeguards for 2023 as far back as September 2022, including finding ways to keep the lifeguards they already have.

He said hiring lifeguards is harder than it used to be because lifeguards need to be certified and not everyone makes it.
