CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A West Side man has died after a hit-and-run in Austin early Sunday morning, Chicago police said.

Authorities said a man was hit by a silver car near North and Laramie Avenues just before 1 a.m.

Police said the car was traveling eastbound on North Avenue and stopped briefly after hitting the man — who was not in a crosswalk — but then left.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital after sustaining trauma to his body.

The medical examiner has identified the victim as 38-year-old Ulysses Coleman, who lived about a half-mile from the scene.
