CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - 23-year-old Isis Monae is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated battery using a deadly weapon.

She allegedly stabbed a 26-year-old man and fatally stabbed 21-year-old Jamel Henton in the Edgewater neighborhood.

Prosecutors said it happened when Monae got into a car with the 26-year-old asking for sex. When he declined, she’s accused of stabbing him and slashing his tires.

She then allegedly stabbed Henton in the chest when he came from a nearby residence and tried to calm her down.

Monae’s mother claimed she’s suffered from mental illness since she was 7-years-old.

She was denied bail and is due back in court on Thursday.
