(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Chicago man is in custody for an armed bank robbery last week in which he allegedly threatened the life of a customer.

Federal prosecutors say 49-year-old Christopher Porter on Thursday evening robbed the Fifth Third Bank branch at 3957 W. 26th St., in the Little Village neighborhood.

He allegedly went in and demanded that a teller put cash into a bag. Porter held a customer in a headlock, pointed a gun at the customer’s head and repeatedly threatened to shoot, authorities say.

Porter fled with cash but was arrested later that evening about four miles away, in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Chicago, prosecutors said.

The robbery charges he faces carry a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.

Porter is in federal custody. No injuries were reported from last week’s bank robbery.
