The Civilian Office of Police Accountability has released graphic police body cam video from September showing officers fatally shooting a man who was armed with a knife.
A man has been stabbed as Chicago police officers arrive in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood to arrest a suspect in Vittum Park.
As they approach him, he is standing by some bushes. Officers tell the suspect repeatedly to put his hands up. He does not.
And then he reaches down to get something. As he walks with a large knife toward a female sergeant, she Tases him.
He falls but gets up and runs toward the sergeant, stabbing her vest and telling her, “Let it go.”
The man is shot multiple times by police officers.
“You OK, sweetheart?”
“I’m fine,” says the sergeant.
The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene.
