Bolingbrook police fatally shoot stabbing suspect

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Bolingbrook police on Friday fatally shot a suspect who is believed to have stabbed a man and a dog, officials said.

Officers responded around 3 p.m. to the 500 block of Spruce Road for a report that someone had stabbed and killed a dog and stabbed a man.

When they arrived at the scene, officers engaged with a man they considered the offender and shot him, Bolingbrook police said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The male stabbing victim was in stable condition, police said.

Bolingbrook Police Chief Mike Rompa said the stabbing is considered an isolated incident. The Will Grundy Major Crimes Task Force is investigating.
