Boy, 15, killed in West Pullman shooting

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot Saturday evening in West Pullman on the Far South Side.

According to police, the boy was shot in the head at about 9:20 p.m. in the 11600 block of South Prairie Avenue.

He was identified as Omar Alvarado and was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he later died, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in suburban Harvey, the Sun-Times reported.

According to the medical examiner's office, an autopsy conducted Sunday ruled he died of multiple gunshot wound. His death was ruled a homicide.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
