Boy, 6, shot while inside South Side residence: Chicago police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 6-year-old boy was hospitalized Sunday after he was shot inside of a residence in Chicago’s Washington Heights neighborhood, according to the Chicago Police Department.

It happened shortly before 5:30 p.m. near 91st Street and Racine Avenue, Chicago police said. The boy reportedly heard a loud noise and then discovered he was shot in the thigh.

A family member took the child to the area of 87th and Aberdeen Streets, where they met with paramedics. The first responders then transported the boy to Comer Children’s Hospital.

The boy was reported in good condition.

Chicago police said no one is in custody, and area detectives are investigating.
