
CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson addressed a joyous crowd of supporters on the West Side as the election results poured in and he headed to a runoff with Paul Vallas.
There was celebration and defiance at Brandon Johnson's headquarters as he vowed to bring in those who voted for the other candidates and threw down the gauntlet at Paul Vallas, calling him one of the authors of Chicago's "tale of two cities." He called Vallas not a real Democrat, supported by January 6 insurrectionists and a failure.
Looking to his runoff against Vallas, Johnson vowed loyalty, and unity.
“If you voted for one of those other candidates, I want you to know that I am running to be the mayor of you too. And, I’m going to work just as hard as I have to get to this point to earn your support,” Johnson said.
The West Side resident told a diverse gathered at the banquet hall, he believes times are changing for Chicago.
“We have shifted the political dynamics in this city,” Johnson said.
