(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Lake County Illinois Sheriff’s Office is already known for its team of canines. There’s a new addition named Tera.

The 1 1/2-year-old Labrador Retriever has high-tech experience. She is trained to find phones, tablets and computers to find hidden images and videos in child exploitation and human trafficking cases.

“It is not uncommon for the suspect to hide images and videos on electronic devices, and then hide those devices in a building or home.  When search warrants are conducted, Canine Tera will be able to walk room to room and locate any hidden electronics,” sheriff’s officials said in a news release Monday.

Tera joins police canines Axel, Boomer, Danno, Dax, Duke, Echo, and Ryker in the Lake County Sheriff’s Department.

She was donated by Operation Underground Railroad, a nonprofit organization on a mission to end human trafficking and child exploitation.
