Meet Tom! This sweet cat came to PAWS Chicago’s community outreach team sick from eating rat poison. He had been living all five years of his life as a stray alone on the streets. But this snuggle bug was built for a life of comfort. Tom is extremely loving and adores getting his head pet.

During his medical examination at PAWS, it was discovered that Tom is FIV+ and FeLV+. These conditions impact the immune system, so it is important for Tom to be brought up in a clean and safe environment. Since he is FeLV+, PAWS Chicago recommends Tom to be the sole cat in his future home, unless if another cat who lives there is also FeLV+. None of his illness is contagious to humans and won't stop him from enjoying life to the fullest.

Tom’s adoption fee has been waived now through Saturday, January 7 as part of PAWS Chicago’s “New Year New Friend” adoption event. Visit pawschicago.org to learn more and schedule an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcome.
