
JOLIET, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Catholic school teacher and youth counselor has been fired by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet and is now being sought by police for alleged misconduct with a minor.
A warrant was issued for the arrest of 44-year-old Jeremy Hylka after a private group calling themselves Save Our Siblings posted alleged conversations involving Hylka on social media. The group also gave police video alleged to show Hylka showing up for a meeting with a person he thought to be a 15-year-old boy.
"He is not in custody. We are working on establishing his whereabouts. I'm confident he will be in our custody in the near future,” Joliet Police Lieutenant Joe Egizio said during a press conference Friday.
Hylka had most recently been working at St. Joseph's Catholic School in Lockport and two Joliet churches, St. Paul the Apostle and the Cathedral of St. Raymond.
