(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Taylor Swift fans are turning to social media in hopes of scoring a last-minute ticket for her Eras Tour in Chicago next weekend, but that is leaving them vulnerable to scammers.
Chantal Monty lives in Canada, and scored a Taylor Swift ticket for Chicago from a girl selling one on TikTok in March.
"It's been in my Ticketmaster account every day since March, and it feels so real. And the fact that over a TikTok video that I got this ticket in my hand,” she said.
But Monty is one of the lucky ones.
Nicole Sourek said she spent $1,600 on tickets from a seller at the ticketing company Yapsody and then found out the tickets were fake.
"I just feel like i was completely taken advantage of and heartbroken for my daughters and my best friend and myself, who all thought we were gonna go, and now there's literally nothing,” Sourek said.
Angel Kwaterski, a staff attorney with Legal Action of Wisconsin, said she also was scammed but got her money back. She has advice for Swifties still looking for tickets.
"If you can, get the individual on the phone and literally Facetime or Facebook Messenger video chat, whatever it may be, before you do the exchange,” she said.
Swift is playing Soldier Field June 2, 3 and 4. Tickets on resale platforms are going for well over $1,000 each.
