CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — If one of your New Year’s resolutions is to go to the gym, you’ll need to bring along your COVID-19 vaccination card since a vaccine mandate begins Monday in Chicago and suburban Cook County.
Gyms along with restaurants, bars and other businesses that serve food and drink now must ask for proof of vaccination against COVID-19 from customers over the age of 5.
Chicago and Cook County health departments are requiring people over 16 also show ID that matches their vaccination card.
Evanston, Skokie and Oak Park have their own health departments and are therefore not covered by the county’s order but all three have opted to start one a week from today. Elk Grove and Orland Park have decided not to follow the county order.
