(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — — Chicago's Department of Streets and Sanitation has deployed nearly 300 trucks to salt and plow major streets, but it’s expected to take awhile for them to get to residential streets.
Commissioner Cole Stallard on Wednesday said crews are working to remove the first wave of snow as the city braces for another 1 to 5 inches of additional “lake effect” snow.
This likely will delay city crews from switching from the main routes to the side streets, he said.
“We want to get there just as fast as everyone wants us there. I wish this snow was stopping now and we could we work on these mains and head right inside,” Stallard said.
