CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Little Village man has been charged with shooting his wife and daughter to death — and wounding his son.
Chicago police said it happened in a home on the 2600 block of South Millard Avenue, where Jose Alvarez, 67, allegedly shot his 15-year-old daughter Daniella in the face and his wife Karina Gonzalez multiple times.
The shooting reportedly followed an argument that took place in the home shortly after midnight on Monday. A neighbor said he heard about 15 shots and saw Alvarez’s teenage son run out of the house and up the street, where he hid behind parked cars. He had been shot in the ankle.
The neighbor said Alvarez came outside and was yelling, “Where are you?”
Chicago police arrived soon after and arrested Alvarez.
Officers found the wife, dead, inside the home. Daniella was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Alvarez was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, one count attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery.
He is expected in court Wednesday.
