(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago could potentially be the site of the next Democratic National Convention, in 2024, a published report says.
The head of a political consulting firm says they are working with Gov. JB Pritzker and other key Democrats in Illinois to prepare a bid for leaders of the party. Chicago last hosted a Democratic convention in 1996, at the United Center.
“From previous Democratic Conventions to the NATO Summit and annual large-scale events like the Air & Water Show, Chicago has a track record of successfully hosting large-scale events, and has the leadership required to make a convention a success,” Tarrah Cooper Wright of Rise Strategy Group said in a written statement provided to WBBM Newsradio.
The report comes as Republican Party leaders are considering Nashville and Milwaukee as their site of their 2024 convention.
