CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A gas explosion wrecked a Chicago Lawn house Wednesday afternoon.

Chicago fire officials said the explosion happened at 66th and Claremont, shortly before 5 p.m. Firefighters responded and discovered that both sides of a house had collapsed.

A man in his 60s was inside at the time of the explosion, the fire department said. He was examined at the scene and, although he did not appear to suffer any injuries, was transported to Christ Hospital, where he was stabilized.

It is still unclear what caused the gas explosion.
