CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Mayor Lori Lightfoot took to social media Sunday morning saying that rumors of her possible resignation are untrue.
Lightfoot tweeted, “If people hadn't noticed, we have major challenges in Chicago we need to address TOGETHER.”
The mayor’s five-part tweet was in response to growing rumors saying that she planned to resign.
Lightfoot said that she was elected by the people of Chicago and will continue to serve today, tomorrow, and into the future.
Activism groups and some community members have called for her resignation in anger over the police shooting death of Adam Toledo but the mayor appeared firm in sticking around tweeting, “Let's do the work.”
