CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Mayor Lori Lightfoot repeatedly stressed that Chicago Bears officials have not told her and the city what changes and other things they want at Soldier Field, and won’t publicly say what her administration’s willing to do, though she said there’s a lot.

But when asked if the city’s prepared to see the Bears move to northwest suburban Arlington Heights, she pointed out there are a number of teams that don’t play in the cities for which they’re named.

"By my count, there's 11. If you look at the two New York teams, the two L.A. teams, and there's about six or seven others. Life goes on. This is a very valuable asset. I'm going to keep working to keep them here in Chicago. I think that's in everybody's interest if we do it. But if they choose to go elsewhere, we're going to maximize that asset and we're going to bring great entertainment value to the lakefront at Soldier Field," Lightfoot said.

She said there’s a lot of interest in that venue.

The Chicago Bears and Churchill Downs Incorporated on Wednesday announced they've signed a purchase and sale agreement for the entire 326-acre Arlington Park property in Arlington Heights.
