CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — It appears McHenry County will be getting its second marijuana dispensary and that it’ll be in Crystal Lake.
AmeriCanna Dream plans to turn the old Culver’s restaurant on Pingree Road into a pot dispensary.
Rep. Tara Meyer said the company plans to invest about a million dollars on the façade, the floor plan and making security enhancements.
“There is a strict no-consumption on-site and no loitering policies so all of our employees will be taught what to do if there is loitering,” Meyer told WBBM Newsradio.
This Crystal Lake resident spoke out in opposition to the marijuana dispensary because it’s a couple of blocks away from the Rosecrance Crystal Lake Treatment IOP Center, a mental health and substance abuse treatment center.
“There should not be a dispensary located so close to a substance abuse recovery center. That would not be good symbolically or practically,” they told WBBM Newsradio.
The Crystal Lake City Council unanimously approved the dispensary proposal.
