Police report series of armed robberies overnight on North Side

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago police are investigating a series of armed robberies that happened within an hour on the city’s North Side early Monday.

Between 3:15 and 4 a.m., Chicago police say there were five similar holdups within short drives of each other.

The first happened in the 2400 block of West Berwyn in the Budlong Woods neighborhood. A 20-year old man says he was sitting in his parked car when a gray, four-door car drove up and three males got out and showed guns.

They took the man’s belongings  and  got back in their vehicle and drove off.

Similar armed robberies happened in the 4300 block of North Leavitt; 3100 block of West Grace; the 3100 block of  West Leland.

Another incident was reported in the 2300 block of West Superior.
