Chicago police to finalize new foot-pursuit policy soon

The Chicago Police Department’s foot-pursuit policy public comment sessions came to an end Friday, moving one step closer toward final rules.

It has now been nearly a 10-month process in drafting the foot-pursuit policy with the first version published in May, and officers and following a temporary policy since.

After multiple public comment sessions, the last a 15 day period that began February 10, the Tribune reports that officials are now starting to analyze the feedback and finalize the new rules.

Whatever the policy is, it will provide the first official completed guidelines for Chicago police officers who engage in foot-pursuits.
