(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago’s historic Palmer House hotel is poised to reopen next week after a pandemic-related hiatus that some thought was permanent.
Reservations are being booked for the Palmer House, which reopens June 17, General Manager Dean Lane said.
More than 200 employees will be on staff, and Lane said he hopes that number will grow to between 700 and 900 workers as business picks up.
Hotel staff will be masked up; for guests, it’s mask optional. Visitors are welcome to come in and admire the hotel's intricately decorated Grand Lobby.
“We’re 150 years in running, and we feel we feel we have another 150 years,” Lane said.
Lane said being closed over the last year did allow for many deep-cleaning projects and the addition of a $2.2 million swimming pool.
