Cicero residents angry over recurring flooding demand permanent solutions

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Angry residents from Cicero shared their frustration at a public meeting Tuesday night about damage from flooding earlier this month.

An overflow crowd at Morton Community College brought out homeowners — and police — as residents heard from town leaders and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District.

Ana Gonzalez told CBS 2 she wants help fast to address damage before it gets worse.

“This is by far the worst I’ve ever seen in my life,” Gonzalez said. “I had over 4.5 feet of water in my basement.”

Cicero leaders say they've already rodded out more than 100 homes and installed catch basins.

Residents, though, said they want permanent solutions to a recurring problem.
