ComEd bribery trial nearing conclusion; key witness to take the stand

Federal prosecutors are expected to wrap up their case this week in the trial of the “ComEd Four.”

The “ComEd Four” include a couple of former ComEd executives and lobbyists accused of paying bribes in order to influence legislation favorable to the utility. The Chicago Tribune said that this week the jury is expected to hear from 58-year old Ed Moody, one of former House Speaker Mike Madigan’s top precinct captains.and someone who was in a position to likely know what’s going on behind the scenes.

The four defendants have pleaded not guilty.

Mike Madigan and one of his top lieutenants are to go on trial next year.
