(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson says he’s hearing from a lot of “disappointed” working people, urging him to challenge Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot for her job.

Johnson has filed papers saying he might run for Chicago Mayor, but hasn't yet decided if he will. He said working families like his say they need someone who shares their values and want him to run.

"You know, the fact that you had, you know, someone who ran on progressive values and then abandoned those values once you know the office was secure. That left a lot of people disappointed."

For example, Johnson said that Lori Lightfoot campaigned as a backer of an elected school board, but opposed it after the election.

"Quite frankly, they're looking for leadership that's going to speak directly to the needs of working people across the city of Chicago."
