CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Health care and religious leaders in Cook County are urging people to get the COVID-19 vaccine or a booster shot ahead of the holidays.
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle was flanked by Cook County health leadership and a number of faith leaders. They all had one message: get the COVID-19 vaccine or a booster shot.

Dr. Isreal Rocha, CEO of Cook County Health, said a COVID-19 vaccine shot is the best gift you can give yourself and your neighbors.
“And one of the best things that we can do is to give to our community, to our family, to our loved ones a world free of COVID and that starts with getting as many people vaccinated as possible,” Rocha said.
Close to 60% of the population in Cook County is considered fully vaccinated and officials said they will continue to encourage those who aren't vaccinated to get their shot.
