CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police have stepped up security this Halloween weekend in Wrigleyville after five kidnappings and armed robberies this month.

There are more security cameras on light poles along Clark Street, so Chicago police can watch for robberies and other crimes as costumed customers hit bar crawls.

This man told CBS 2 that going out in groups and staying alert is key.

“You always want to have a handle on how you’ve had, and … checking up on your friends,” he said.

Police are still looking for whomever forced five men into a car at gunpoint and stole their phones and wallets earlier this month. Some residents want police to maintain the higher level of security beyond Halloween.
