Crash involving stolen car sends 3 children, 1 adult to hospital

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Charges are pending against two people who were arrested after a serious crash in the West Garfield Park neighborhood Sunday evening.

Officials said three children and one adult were in a pickup truck when it was hit while going through the intersection of Kostner Avenue and Washington Boulevard.

Home surveillance video showed the crash: The white pickup truck moved slowly through the intersection, and in the blink of an eye a speeding Hyundai Sonata T-boned it, which caused the truck to smash head-on into a tree.

Neighbor Shaun Walker’s home video recorded the crash. He and others went to help the family inside the pick-up. He told CBS 2:

“The baby wasn’t breathing. Started immediately CPR on the baby. We were then waiting on the ambulance and we were able to get the breath back into the baby.”

Officials said the baby, two other children and an adult were taken to Stroger Hospital. Two of the four people in the Sonata were arrested. Chicago police said the Sonata was stolen.
