Crew at large, believed to have committed 5 armed robberies in 30 minute span on West Side: CPD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A street robbery spree in Humboldt Park Tuesday was remarkable for the number and how quickly the robberies were committed.

Police believe the same people,  teenagers or young men, committed six armed robberies, five in a span of 30 minutes.

In each case, they were armed with handguns and were wearing ski masks. They got out of a dark-colored SUV and approached people on the street.

Robberies were reported in the:

• 3800 block of West Ohio at 6:30 a.m.

• 1000 block of North Central Park at 6:35 a.m.

• 3200 block of West Huron at 6:45 a.m.

• 1000 block of North Ridgeway at 6:50 a.m.

• 3300 block of West Grand at 7:00 a.m.

The last one occurred two and a half hours later at 930 a.m. on the 3700 block of West Thomas.

In two of the robberies, police said the victims were hit in their heads with handguns.
