CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A CTA train operator was taken to a hospital Monday night after being pushed onto a set of “L” tracks.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. on the North Side, at the CTA Granville station along the Red Line in the Edgewater community. Police said the CTA worker had heard someone say their cell phone had fallen onto the tracks, and when the train operator went to take a look, he was pushed onto the tracks.

Power to the tracks was cut so first responders could get him safely off the tracks. Police say the worker complained of overall body soreness. He was taken in fair condition to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston.

Police are still looking for a suspect.
