(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — The Lake County Sheriff’s Office was called out to a report of a man who had violated an order of protection early Tuesday, and when he resisted police commands, police sent in Dax the K-9.

Sheriff’s office officials said 53-year-old Richard Huhn went to the home of an Ingleside woman, in violation of a court order to stay away from her.

She called 911, despite his threat to kill her if she did, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

Huhn allegedly barricaded himself in the garage and wouldn’t come out as police instructed. Sheriff’s deputies rammed their way in and sent Dax the K-9 after Huhn, who’d been hiding under a bench.

Dax bit Huhn in the leg, who was later treated at the hospital. He’s since been charged with violating an order of protection with a prior conviction.
