The independent commission that produces U.S. presidential debates says it will make changes to the rules for the next meetings between President Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden.

CBS News reports those changes will include letting moderators and producers mute the microphones of candidates who do not follow the rules.

It is a responses to Tuesday’s chaotic first debate, when an aggressive Trump interrupted Biden more than 70 times.

"It was embarrassing and difficult to watch," says Ferald Bryan, a professor of communications at Northern Illinois University.

Bryan tells WBBM Newsradio the debaters should be respectful of each other, let the other person get across their points of view and then challenge them, if need be, with facts.

"Biden maintained his cool and made most of his points although, a few of his comments, again, were cringe-worthy, calling the president a clown, worst president in history,” he said.
