It's the final day for Dinkel’s Bakery, the popular family run Lakeview business that has been a Chicago staple since 1922.
Standing within a line that stretches out the store and down the 3300 block of Lincoln Avenue, one kid from the neighborhood tells WBBM that she has been enjoying Dinkel's since she was seven years old.
"My grandparents had their restaurant right there next to the bakery," Deanna said sharing her memory of sneaking away from her family's restaurant nearby after setting silverware and cups out on the tables.
"And I go there I guess we stop, you know, but I didn't tell my grandparents," she laughed.
She says at the time she was most fond of the cupcakes but Deanna now in her 60s is here for a last dance with one item in particular - pretzel bread.
