CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Will County Judge who’s been critical of the State’s Attorney who prosecuted Drew Peterson will be considering Peterson’s request for a new trial.
The Presiding Judge of the Will County Felony Division, Judge Dave Carlson, needed to assign another judge because the trial judge in the Peterson case, Edward Burmilla, retired.
The Joliet Herald news reported that he picked himself.
Carlson once ran unsuccessfully against the State’s Attorney, James Glasgow, and he was quoted by the Chicago Tribune saying Glasgow was “rusty” in his handling of the Peterson case and committed errors that could have caused a mistrial.
Peterson contends mistakes made by his attorney, the prosecutor and the judge warrant a new trial for the murder of his 3rd wife, Kathleen Savio.
He was convicted in 2012 and was later convicted of attempting to have Glasgow killed.
He’s suspected in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy, but has never been charged. The case is up for a status hearing on October 12.
