(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Police in Antioch are trying to determine how the driver of a truck lost control Tuesday evening and caused significant damage to a building.
It happened at Main Street and Route 83, officials said.
The pickup left the road, hit a light pole, drove through the outdoor seating area of a Dairy Queen and continued through a parking lot. Antioch police said the vehicle continued through the glass doors of a grocery store and came to a stop all the way in the store.
There was nobody outside the Dairy Queen at the time, and no one inside Polson’s Natural Foods — the grocery store — was hurt.
The driver, though, was injured, and officials said there was significant damage to the store.
In a Facebook post, Polson's Natural Foods announced that it would be closed "for a while as we clean up and get everything figured out."
Main Street was closed for hours.
The Antioch Police Department is continuing to investigate.
