(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A DuPage County man who was an executive with a Naperville non-profit youth organization has been charged with possessing child pornography.
49-year-old Erich Kroll, a senior business banker and former Vice President of KidsMatter, was being held on $150,000 bond after a hearing Wednesday afternoon, according to the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
Following an initial online investigation into the possession and distribution of child pornography files, authorities on Wednesday executed a search warrant of Kroll’s home in unincorporated DuPage County, near Darien. It was there sheriffs found child pornographic files on Kroll’s digital electronics.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin iterated that at this point the allegations surrounding Kroll are not related to his work with KidsMatter.
In response to the Kroll’s charges, KidsMatter issued the following statement:
“When the board became aware of the charges on Wednesday, KidsMatter’s board called a meeting and voted to remove Erich Kroll from his volunteer position as vice president of the board. Mr. Kroll’s volunteer efforts were primarily in a fundraising role not a programming role for the organization.”
Kroll’s is scheduled to appear in court next month.
