CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- In announcing the relocation and expansion of its main COVID-19 vaccination clinic, some leaders in DuPage County say they are “flying blind” and desperately need more guidance from state and federal officials.
“There is no room for error here,” DuPage County Chairman Dan Cronin said Tuesday. “None of this is acceptable.”
Despite leading the collar counties in the percentage of vaccinated residents, Cronin said state health leaders must be more transparent about vaccination efforts.
“While we are grateful for every dose of vaccine that gets to a DuPage County resident, we cannot adequately plan when the state can’t or won’t tell us where they are distributing vaccine," he said.
The county is now moving its community vaccination clinic to the DuPage County Fairgrounds and expanding its call center for appointments.
“I would tell everybody who is feeling frustrated to channel that,” Congressman Sean Casten said. “You should be frustrated. But please be patient with the folks who are working ridiculous hours and sacrificing to make sure that we can be vaccinated in this moment.”
