EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The Evanston City Council votes tonight on “thank you” bonuses and pay raises for city workers.

It’s a special meeting of the Evanston City Council. Alderpersons will vote on $500 “thank you” retention bonuses for all full-time and part-time city workers. It would cost Evanston about $380,000.

Twenty non-union employees of the Evanston Police Department would receive $2,500 bonuses. All non-union city workers would get a 3% pay raise. The 105 members of the firefighters union would receive a one-time payment totaling $494,000, which would make up for income losses for giving up pay raises last year and this year.
